CDD Cares: Cervical Cancer Screening Programs
The Center for Disease Detection supports several clinical research, education, and outreach programs.
Early Detection Initiative
Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth most common malignancy in women and the fourth most common cause of death (due to malignancy) in women. Early detection/confirmation of disease/infection grants the best possibility for survival, improves overall treatment outcomes, and lowers long-term healthcare costs for all involved parties.
For this reason, in January 2012, the Center for Disease Detection (CDD) committed corporate social responsibility funding to an Early Detection Initiative.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Education and Outreach Program
CDD has been working with various non-profit and non-governmental organizations to support their cervical cancer screening outreach efforts. The overall goal of the program is to educate patients on the potential benefits of cervical cancer screening, make them aware of the option for HPV testing, and increase patient participation in overall screening activities at the nationally recommended screening interval.
Non-profit/Non-governmental organizations interested in establishing a similar program in their service area can respond to the Request for Applications (RFA).
